So to start this journey, I’m beginning with a person that I think I have some good info on, but I put her history together in a shoddy manner and I want to go back through the records and make sure that I’ve properly documented everything as it needs to be. In this post, I’m going to describe my person and formulate my research objective.
Back in my early days of genealogical research, I found a census record on microfilm that I believe is the family of my husband’s great-grandfather, living in Izard County, Arkansas, in 1900. Sidney M Wall is shown as the mother and head of household; this is the oldest record that I have identified for this family and where I want to start.
Who is Sidney M? In 1900 she is shown as widowed with six boys, ranging in age from 25 to 15. Her birthdate is listed as February 1857, and she is 43 years old. My goal is to follow her movements and, hopefully, establish who the boys’ father is along with Sidney’s parents.
There are a lot of unknowns where she is concerned, but for this project, my Research Objective is as follows.
The objective of this research project is to determine the husband of Sidney M Wall, born Feb 1857, and living in Izard County, Arkansas, in June of 1900.
Although there is a multitude of unanswered questions surrounding this family, I feel that this objective is sufficiently narrow to focus on for this project.
I’ve already begun to look into records and in my next post, I’ll have the results of my searches.
